Terry Tyler
When I first started out writing my blog I was a bit unsure how authors would take to new bloggers, and how long it would be before anyone would ask me to review their work.
Five days after I wrote my first post, Terry contacted me and asked me to read and write a review on either of one or two of her books.
I opted to review "What it Takes", you can read my review Here, and keep the other one to review at a later date.
Now I’ll be honest, I hadn’t read any of Terry Tylers books before, even though I had been following Terry for a long time via my private twitter account.
The first thing I noticed about her was how genuine she was, and what a lovely person she really is. She gave me advice as a newbie blogger and went out of her way to help me with other matters, including a new item that I will be doing in the very near future – ‘The Writing Life of:’.
What a mistake I had made not reading one or all of Terry’s books before. There’s one thing about being a blogger that I love, and that is reading books that I never have noticed before. I mainly stuck to the same few author’s with every book I read, and rarely looked else where.
Terry’s book was brilliant! I remember wondering why I hadn’t got around to reading her books before, and wished I had.
I loved Terry’s easy style of writing and the way the plots of her books, that I have read, are situations that you would deal with in everyday life.
I have since read a couple more of Terry’s books and have loved all of them. I will be writing reviews up and posting them at a later date.
For anyone who has never read any of Terry’s books before, I would say give them a go, they’re definitely entertaining and worth reading.
Mini Biography
Terry lives in the north of England with her husband, and has published ten books on Amazon.
Readers say she has created her own genre, which lies somewhere in the area of contemporary drama and romantic suspense, with a few modern day history parallels thrown in (her latest two full length novels are a 20th/21st century mirror of the Tudor Court).
Terry has a blog on which she writes about anything from her favourite TV shows to observations about social networking trends, and also writes for the UK Arts Directory about self-publishing. This year she started a new book review blog for her own reading choices.

I know just what you mean about always reading the same few authors; I used to be exactly the same! I’d say to my sister “Right, I’ve read all of Douglas Kennedy’s, what do I do now?” So then I’d go back and read all of Susan Howatch’s again…! But I’m so glad I’ve branched out now, too. This is why I encourage avid readers to use book blogs – they’re wonderful things.

There have been so many books by authors that I knew of but had never read their books. Over the last year I have taken the plunge and read books by a variety of different authors. I realised that by sicking to the same ones all the time I was missing out on some wonderfully written books. I’m now quite diverse, not only in my author selection but also in my genre selection too. x

I agree! I just read Kings and Queens out loud to my husband on a long road trip. He, having no prior knowledge of Henry VII, kept saying WHAT A TRAIN WRECK! and urging me to keep reading! Super fun!!!

Enjoyed this. Always nice to read about a generous person, who’s happy to share. The thing I love about self-publishing is that books can cross genres now and come up with happy mixes, like contemporary drama and romantic suspense. Not every book has to be pigeon-holed.
Unfortunately, this does make them harder to sell, Judith! 16 years ago I submitted a book I’d written to a major agent and she wanted to take it but said she couldn’t sell it to a publisher without me changing it to what was in vogue at the time. It was chick lit, I suppose, and would have gone down great now, but at the time they wanted books about women ending up with fabulous careers. Thanks for reading!
