Tonight, the winner of the 2015 Bailey’s prize for fiction was announced.
Back on the 10th March, 20 nominees were chosen for the Longlist, which included, five debut novelists and eight previous shortlisted authors.
On the 13th April, that list was whittled down to just 6 contenders for the prize.
Tonight the winner was chosen. The winner of the 2015 Bailey’s prize for fiction was awarded to – Ali Smith, for her novel, "How to be Both".
Ali will receive the winning prize of £30,000, and a unique bronze statue ‘Bessie’, created by the artist Grizel Niven.

The five runner-ups Rachel Cusk – "Outline", Laline Paull – "The Bees", Anne Tyler – "A Spool of Blue Thread", Sarah Waters – "The Paying Guests" and Kamila Shamsie – "A God in Every Stone", will each receive a bespoke leather-bound copy of their novel created by Christine Cleaton.
