4th August 1875 – Hans Christian Anderson, author of ‘The Little Mermaid‘ was born in Odense, Denmark on 2nd April 1805. He died aged 70 in Østerbro, Copenhagen, Denmark.

5th August 2019 – Toni Morrison (born Chloe Ardelia Wofford), author of ‘The Bluest Eye‘ was born in Lorain, Ohio, USA on 18th February 1931. She died aged 88 at the Montefiore Medical Center Moses Campus, New York, USA.
