Say goodnight to the sleepy farmyard creatures! Learn about each animal as you tiptoe into barns, creep across fields and peep into stables. This beautiful book combines facts and fun, with a gentle rhyming text that’s perfect for bedtime.

Review by Stacey

Goodnight Farm is an adorable book that looks amazing from the outside as there are lots of cut-out sections on each page which when the book is closed creates different farmer’s fields and a farmhouse in the distance.

Inside author Becky Davies teaches children about the farm animals sleeping habits, starting with cows and how they only sleep for around four hours a day and can doze standing up.

The main text is written in bold, bright black text that stands out. It is quite a small font for a young children’s book but it is also easy to read. There are sections on each page with additional information. These are not so easy to read or noticeable, in fact, there was one page where I was about to turn over and I noticed I had missed some writing as it is more of a small grey font on a coloured background and when that background is green it kind of got lost.

The illustrations though are divine. I loved them. They are brightly coloured and the animals are drawn perfectly. There are so many different animals too, not just the ones being mentioned in the text, plus other items you would find on a farm such as a tractor or a scarecrow. So you could play spot the animal or teach little children about life on a farm.

I found the story completely lovely and with thick pages this is one book that a child cannot destroy easily, making it perfect for tiny children who just like to rip everything apart.
