Synopsis

A baby deer and her father roam the sweeping landscape, marvelling at its wonder. Treading lightly and with care, the fawn learns that the world is hers to enjoy and to explore through all the changes of seasons. It is a world to be cherished and shared, now and forever.

Review by Stacey

This Is Your World is an adorable children’s picture book featuring a father (stag) who is teaching his young child (fawn) to appreciate the world they live in.

The story is written in a soft, slow rhyming style and the full-page illustrations capture the words and the world perfectly. As they travel through the forest the father shows his child marvellous creations that are all around us, from butterflies to raindrops. He also teaches his child that the world is for everyone and not just them and that they are to share, whether that be space or food.

The book contains beautiful messages and I hope that children reading it can understand and then take away what they have read. It is a very calming book that would be perfect for a bedtime story given that the text and the softly coloured drawings are relaxing.

In a busy world, this book embraces nature and will open the reader’s eyes to a world of wonder that is around them every day if they look.
