Fun Fact Friday – 31st July 2015
A festival that will make your mouth water
Each year since 2000 there has been an unusual, international festival held in many countries including the USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Brazil, Luxembourg and Russia to name but a few.
‘The Edible Book Festival’
The festival was founded by two women with a literary passion:
– Judith A Hoffberg (1934 – January 16, 2009) who was a librarian, archivist, lecturer, curator, art writer, editor and publisher.
– Béatrice Coron, A Papercutter artist.
The festival was created to commemorate the birthday of the French Gastronome – Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), who wrote the book ‘Physiologie du Gout’ (Psychology of Taste).
The events across the world have to be held on or around the 1st April and all entries must be bookish.
All the cakes are created, displayed, photographed, judged and then eaten.
Fun – Now there’s one festival I would like to get my teeth in to!!
